שגיאת לואה ביחידה יחידה:תבנית_מידע בשורה 261: תבנית מדען ריקה. כריסטופר היברט (באנגלית: Christopher Hibbert;‏ 5 במרץ 1924 – 21 בדצמבר 2008) היה סופר, היסטוריון וביוגרף אנגלי. הוא כונה "פנינת הביוגרפים" ב"ניו סטייטסמן" ו"כנראה ההיסטוריון הפופולרי הנקרא ביותר בתקופתנו, וללא ספק אחד הפורה ביותר" ב"טיימס".[1] היברט היה עמית האגודה המלכותית לספרות ומחבר ספרים רבים, בהם ספר על ההיסטוריה של אנגליה, ביוגרפיות של בנג'מין דיזראלי, אדוארד השביעי, ג'ורג' הרביעי, משפחת בית מדיצ'י, וספר על מלחמת האזרחים האנגלית.

ביוגרפיה

נולד בשנת 1924 בשם ארתור ריימונד היברט באנדרבי (אנ') שבלסטרשייר, בנם של הכומר ה. ו. היברט ושל מוד. הוא למד באורייל קולג' (אנ') של אוניברסיטת אוקספורד.[1][2] הוא קיבל תואר ראשון ותואר שני.

הוא עזב את מכללת אורייל כדי להתגייס לצבא, שם קרא להיברט קצין "כריסטופר רובין" (מספרי "פו הדב") על פי מראהו הצעיר, ומאז הוא מכונה "כריסטופר". במהלך מלחמת העולם השנייה שימש היברט קצין חי"ר ברגימנט המתנדבים הרובאים האירים של לונדון (אנ'), נלחם באיטליה והגיע לדרגת קפטן. הוא נפצע פעמיים וקיבל את הצלב הצבאי בשנת 1945.[2][3]

בשנים 1945–1959 היה שותף במשרד סוכני קרקעות וכרוזים במכירה פומבית.[1] הוא החל את קריירת הכתיבה שלו בשנת 1957.[3] היברט זכה בפרס היינמן (אנ') לספרות בשנת 1962 על ספרו "The Destruction of Lord Raglan",[2] ובמדליית מקולווין של אגודת הספריות בשנת 1989. כריסטופר היברט היה עמית החברה המלכותית לספרות והחברה הגאוגרפית המלכותית, וזכה בתואר דוקטור לשם כבוד בספרות מטעם אוניברסיטת לסטר.

חיים אישיים

היברט התגורר הנלי על התמזה (אנ') שבאוקספורדשייר, היה נשוי לסוזן פיגפורד ולזוג נולדו שלושה ילדים: מנהלת עזבונו הספרותי קייט היברט, התסריטאי ג'ימי היברט (אנ') ועיתונאי המוזיקה טום היברט (אנ').[2]

הוא נפטר ב-21 בדצמבר 2008 בהנלי מדלקת ריאות בגיל 84.[1][2][3] הוא נשרף לאחר טקס "הומניסטי" באוקספורד ב-2 בינואר 2009.[4]
