מיכאל בריצ'ר (אנגלית: Michael Brecher; ) הוא מדען יהודי קנדי, ממניחי היסודות האקדמיים לחקר מדיניות החוץ של ישראל.

ביוגרפיה

בריצ'ר התגורר בקיבוץ בישראל כחצי שנה עד 1952 והתחתן עם אשתו אווה, אמם של שלושת ילדיהם. הוא בעל תואר דוקטור מאוניברסיטת ייל בשנת 1953 ומכהן כפרופסור למדעי המדינה באוניברסיטת מקגיל במונטריאול, קנדה משנת 1954. בסוף 1960, חזר שוב לישראל. כיהן כפרופסור אורח באוניברסיטה העברית בירושלים בשנים 1970–1974 ועסק בחקר מדיניות החוץ של המדינה בתקופה שבין מלחמת ששת הימים ומלחמת יום הכיפורים.

מחקרו הראשון על מדיניות החוץ הישראלית, שהופיע בשנות השבעים, נחשב לבסיסי בתחום מחקר מדעי זה, בשל שימושו החדשני בשיטות מחקר שפותחו בחקר היחסים הבינלאומיים, בשל התבססותו על מקורות רבגוניים ועשירים ובשל הדיון המקיף והמעמיק בהתהוות מדיניות החוץ הישראלית. בריצ'ר חקר את התפתחות מדיניות החוץ במערכת הבין–לאומית הדו–קוטבית שהתפתחה משנת 1947 במסגרת המלחמה הקרה.

גם שני אחיו של מיכאל בריצ'ר כיהנו כפרופסורים באוניברסיטת מקגיל, אירוינג בריצ'ר היה פרופסור לכלכלה וג'ו (יוסף) בריצ'ר, כאחיו מיכאל, פרופסור למדע המדינה.
