ארנולד הסקל
שגיאת לואה ביחידה יחידה:תבנית_מידע בשורה 261: תבנית אישיות ריקה. ארנולד ליונל דייוויד הַסְקֶל (באנגלית: Arnold Lionel David Haskell 19 ביולי 1903 - 14 בנובמבר 1980), באת', סומרסט, היה מבקר מחול בריטי, שייסד את אגודת קאמארגו בשנת 1930. יחד עם נינט דה ולואה, היה לו חלק נכבד בפיתוח בית הספר של הבלט המלכותי, ובהמשך בניהולו.
ביוגרפיה
הסקל גדל בקווין'ס גייט, דרום קנזינגטון, לונדון,[1] ולמד בבית הספר וסטמינסטר ואחר המשיך ללימודי משפטים בטריניטי הול, קיימברידג'.
הסקל נסע לראשונה לאוסטרליה ב-1936 עם הבלט הרוסי של מונטה קרלו כעיתונאי, שכתב מאמרים וביקורות לכמה עיתונים וכתבי-עת אוסטרליים, כגון "הבית",[2] ושלח כתבות הבית לאנגליה למגזינים כגון ה"Dancing Times". ספרו "Dancing Round The World", שיצא בלונדון בשנת 1937, מספר על הרפתקאותיו במסע זה.
הוא חזר לאוסטרליה ב-1938 לאסוף חומר ל"Waltzing Matilda: a background to Australia'", שיצא לאור ב-1943. בביקורו השני המשיך לכתוב מאמרים וביקורות לעיתונים ומגזינים אוסטרליים, הפעם בשביל להקת בלט רוס השנייה שיצאה למסע באוסטרליה.
ב-1974, קיבל הסקל תואר דוקטור לשם כבוד במדעי הרוח מאוניברסיטת באת'.[3] בנו, פרנסיס הסקל, היה פרופסור לתולדות האמנות באוקספורד בשנים 1967 עד 1995. במהלך חייו היה מעורב בחיי באמנות בלונדון, ותמך באמנים צעירים כמו ג'ורג' ביסיל, שגם עיצב את ביתו בקניזטון שנהרס בזמן מלחמת העולם השנייה.
