עמית גפן (נולד ב-8 בפברואר 1971) הוא פרופסור ישראלי להנדסה ביו-רפואית בפקולטה להנדסה באוניברסיטת תל אביב. תחומי המחקר של גפן כוללים בין היתר ביומכניקה ואדפטציה של רקמות ביולוגיות, ביומכניקה של מערכת השלד והשרירים, התנהגות מכנית של רקמות בריאות ושינויים בהתפתחות מחלות ופציעות.

ביוגרפיה

עמית גפן נולד ברמת גן והתחנך בגבעתיים, הוא נשוי לפרופסור דפנה ויס ולו 3 ילדים. כיום הוא מתגורר בגני תקווה ובחיפה. את התואר הראשון שלו בהנדסת מכונות עשה בשנת 1994 באוניברסיטת תל אביב. את התואר השני (שנת 1997) והדוקטורט (שנת 2001) עשה בהנדסה ביו-רפואית גם כן באוניברסיטת תל אביב.

בשנים 2002–2003 עשה את הפוסט-דוקטורט שלו באוניברסיטת פנסילבניה, ארצות הברית.

עמית גפן מייעץ עבור גופים גדולים ברחבי העולם. כמו כן מכהן כיו"ר וכחבר מועצות מדעיות של חברות בינלאומיות גדולות.

כיום מחקרו ממומן בין היתר על ידי הקרן הלאומית למדע, משרד הבריאות, משרד המדע, ומשרד הביטחון .

הישגים

גפן פרסם למעלה מ־250 מאמרים בכתבי-עת בינלאומיים. רבים מהם עוסקים במכנו-ביולוגיה, ביומכניקה של תאים ורקמות, עם יישומים הנמצאים בעיקר במניעה של פצעים כרוניים.

• הוא העורך הראשי של Clinical Biomechanics (הוצאת Elsevier)).
• הוא ערך מספר ספרים וכמה גיליונות מיוחדים בכתבי עת כמו :the Annals of Biomedical Engineering, Journal of Biomechanics, Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical . Engineering and more (הוצאת springer ואחרים)
• הוא עורך סדרת ספרים בנושא מכנו ביולוגיה, הנדסת רקמות וביו-חומרים (בהוצאת Springer)
• הוא העורך/שותף בעריכה של כתבי עת בינלאומיים שדורגו במקום גבוה בתחום של הנדסה ביו רפואית:. PLoS One, the Annals of Biomedical Engineering, the Journal of Biomechanics, Medical Engineering & Physics, Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering, Journal of the Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical Materials, the Journal of Tissue Viability, Ostomy Wound Management and the Journal of Wound Care
• פרופסור גפן היה מדען אורח באוניברסיטה הטכנולוגית איינדהובן בהולנד, שם פיתח מערכות מודלים מהונדסים של רקמות לחקר פצעי לחץ.

2003- The Prince de Merode Award of the International Olympic Committee, Physical Section, granted at the 7th IOC Olympic World

Congress on Sport Sciences, Athens, Greece.

2006- Taylor and Francis prize for "Outstanding Innovation in Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering, Antibes, Côte d'Azur, France.

2009- The Perkins Prize for the Best Paper in Medical Engineering & Physics in 2008, awarded for the paper titled "Inhomogeneity of Tissue-Level Strain Distributions in Individual Trabeculae.

2011- The Raphael Rozin Prize for Rehabilitation, Awarded for the project "Etiological Studies and Evaluation of Means to Prevent Heel Pressure Ulcers", Tel Aviv.

2012-present - a member of the World Council of Biomechanics and a Fellow of the International Academy of Medical and Biological Engineering and the European Alliance for Medical and Biological Engineering

2013- The Nightingale Prize 2012: For Best Paper Published in Medical & Biological Engineering and Computing in 2011.

2013-2015- President of the European Pressure Ulcer Society (the European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel, EPUAP)

2015- Editorial Excellence Award, by the Annals of Biomedical Engineering and the Biomedical Engineering Society.

2016- The Advances in Pressure Care Career Award, by the World Union of Wound Healing Societies (WUWHS) and the Journal of Wound Care, awarded at the WUWHS conference in the Fortezza da Basso Conference Center, Florence, Italy.

2017- The European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (EPUAP) Experienced Investigator Award, by the Scientific Committee of the EPUAP, to be awarded at the EPUAP annual conference in Belfast, Northern Ireland, September 20-22nd, 2017.

2018- The Otto Schmitt Award by Award committee of the international Federation of medical & biological Engineering (IFMBE), Prague.
