סר פיטר פרדריק סטרוסון (באנגלית: Sir Peter Frederick Strawson  או בקיצור: P. F. Strawson) ‏; (23 בנובמבר 1919 – 13 בפברואר 2006) היה פילוסוף אנגלי, פרופסור לפילוסופיה באוניברסיטת אוקספורד. תחומי העניין העיקריים שלו היו פילוסופיה של השפה ופילוסופיה של הנפש.

ביוגרפיה

פיטר סטרוסון נולד ב-1919 בפרבר אילינג, שבמערב לונדון לזוג מורים. לאחר שאביו מונה למנהל בית-ספר, משפחתו עברה להתגורר בפינצ'לי, שם למד סטרוסון בכרייסט קולג', וזכה במלגת לימודים עבור סיינט ג'ונס קולג' באוקספורד.

ב-1940, לאחר שלמד פילוסופיה, כלכלה ומדע המדינה (PPE) החליט לעזוב את אוקספורד ולהתגייס לצבא. בזמן מלחמת העולם השנייה עסק בתפעול מכ"ם. .

לאחר המלחמה חזר לקריירה אקדמית. הוא לימד במשך תקופה קצרה ביוניברסיטי קולג' בבנגור שבצפון ויילס, ומשנת 1948 עד פרישתו ב-1987 פעל באוקספורד. בשנת 1977 זכה בתואר אבירות.

הוא נפטר באוקספורד בשנת 2006.

בנו, גלן סטרוסון פילוסוף גם הוא.
